Practice Project | Conceptual Print Design
Overview
This project was a conceptual redesign of the non-fiction book Bilingual Education, aimed at educators and academic professionals. The goal was to create a fresh, compelling visual identity that would stand out in an educational setting while staying true to the subject matter.
Objective
The original cover lacked visual energy and failed to reflect the richness of the topic. The redesign aimed to combine clarity with creativity-using type, layout, and color to better engage readers while signaling the book’s relevance to modern teaching practices.
Design Approach
The cover features a bold, elegant serif typeface to establish authority, paired with playful typographic and visual elements that hint at bilingualism and communication. A simplified color palette keeps the design clean, while the layered layout introduces visual interest and movement without overwhelming the content.
Outcome
This redesign demonstrates the power of thoughtful typography and layout in reframing an academic subject for a contemporary audience. It blends sophistication with approachability, and shows how design can support clarity, identity, and purpose- even in traditionally conservative categories like education.
